Why I choose to photograph people.

Recently, and old friend of mine had DMd me asking why I choose to photograph people ,instead of landscapes or animals. It was a question that had never really crossed my mind. I do agree that there is something kind of perverse about wanting to photograph others, but at the same time, who doesn't want nice photos of themselves? I decided to look at the photos that I would consider my 'favourites'. The ones that I herald as my 'all time greats' (so far anyways).

These four photos I believe really capture the vibe and style I aim for in my photography. They are an exaggerated, more colourful, extension of real life. Both natural and Utopian. The focus isn't just on the person's face, pose, background, foreground or style. It is, ultimately, a blend of all things I love. A colourful, naturally toned background, highlighting a natural pose.
I realise as I am writing this, the vibe i strive to achieve with my photos is one of nostalgia. How we look back at good memories with good people. Romanticising what was; with colours that pop in our head. The first photo of my friend Abi (Abigail, but cool kidz say Abi) displays how we remember moments and memories with our friends. How we can't see the people closest to us as ugly. The following two photos almost represent how we would view our first crush. How we would put them on a pedestal no matter how they looked. Others could view them as extrapolating beauty in seemingly 'mundane' or 'uninteresting' facets of life. Fixing your hair or feeling cold. This extends to the final photo of Amir (@blakksocks on insta) simply drinking tea. The colour, the background, his shirt, even his hair/facial hair.
Imagine Dragons once said 'Love is a Polaroid, Better in picture, Nothing can fill the void'. When flipping through photo albums; we are immediately hit with an abundance of nostalgia. It's that feeling of flicking through a photo album, and reliving those memories and moments, that I seek to create through my photography. Those rose tinted memories that you wish to relive, the one time events that stick with you forever, memories that will never cease to fade. I fully understand that this flowery, hyperbolic language may not sit with everyone; but to those that read this have far... Thank you.
I hope you can understand a bit more of why and how I shoot the way I do.

I love this! Definitely could update it with your recent photos <3
